Get involved

If you would like to get involved in station life there are various ways to do so.

Donate your time. Join us as a volunteer in any of our teams, depending on your interests. Uniformed platform staff undertake training to be passed out as safety critical. Prefer to work with your hands and enjoy the company of others? Then the maintenance team may be your thing. Booking Office clerks sell tickets, have a good knowledge of the different stations along the line and the timetable.

Volunteers are also welcome in our refreshment room, the bar, the carriage restoration group, the permanent way looking after the track, the gift shop.

Donate your money. Our station fund enables us to buy the tools and materials like timber, paint, brushes, and major items like our custom-cast lamp posts and fence rails. Over the years we have invested many thousands of pounds donated to us by supporters who care about the wellbeing of the station’s appearance.

Donate your knowledge. If you have memories to share with us about the history of the station and its staff – perhaps your family history includes people who worked at the station – we would love to hear from you. Photographs and artefacts would be very welcome.
